FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SALT + LIGHT LAUNCHES DAILY FRENCH MASS FROM ST. JOSEPH’S ORATORY

Montreal (October 19, 2010) – On October 19, 1904, through the efforts of Brother André Bessette, CSC, a first Mass was celebrated at the foot of Montreal's Mount Royal. Today, 106 years later, viewers from around the world are invited to join in on the celebration of French daily Mass from St. Joseph's Oratory thanks to two daily broadcasts on Salt + Light Television and daily uploads at seletlumieretv.org/messe.

The Mass will air live on Salt + Light Television Monday through Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with daily repeats at 5 p.m. with the exception of Saturday.

"During his lifetime, Brother André was nourished and strengthened by the Eucharist, and led many people to St. Joseph and to Jesus Christ" says Fr. Thomas Rosica, CSB, CEO of Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation. "We are delighted and honored to offer the celebration of the daily Eucharist to people throughout Canada - and the world - who might not otherwise be able to travel to St. Joseph's Oratory."

This great project was made possible thanks to the welcome and cooperation of St. Joseph's Oratory in Montreal, the Congregation of Holy Cross and an important financial contribution from Foundation "To God Go", a Montreal-based charitable organization founded by J-Robert Ouimet.

To ensure the sustainability of the daily mass project, Salt + Light invites viewers to sponsor a daily Mass for a donation of $250.

"The Eucharist builds the Church and the Church celebrates the Eucharist. It is the source and summit of our life as Christians," says Fr. Rosica "How happy Brother André could be to know that the Eucharistic celebration in his Church will now be broadcast across Canada and throughout the world through Salt + Light Television!"
