WELCOME to Canada’s World Communications Day (WCD) resource page! This website was created by Canada’s Catholic Media to assist YOU in spreading the word about the importance of Catholic Communications!
On this site you will find suggested texts that you may use in your own newsletter, your parish bulletin, or website as well as the links to the various Catholic media outlets in Canada. Also available for use on your webpage or publications are different versions of the WCD logo. Just right click on the version you would like to use and save it to your folder of choice.
May 4, 2008 marks World Communication Day (WCD) in the Catholic Church and we are asking you to respond to Pope Benedict’s call to all media for WCD 2008:
“I appeal to the leaders of the media industry to educate and encourage producers to safeguard the common good, to uphold the truth, to protect individual human dignity and promote respect for the needs of the family”
In today’s fast paced, on-the-go world, media and communications are instantaneous and constant. 24-hour-a-day news networks, emails, text messages, and the internet ensure that we are always ‘plugged in’. It is absolutely imperative, that in this ‘global village’ there are strong Catholic voices speaking God’s word.
In Canada, these Catholic voices exist and with the continued support of Catholics across the country, they are getting increasingly stronger and more accessible!
Once again the Catholic Media outlets across Canada have united as one voice to stress the importance of WCD and the need for Catholics to support CATHOLIC MEDIA in order for it to thrive.
Canadian Catholic News (CCN) brings together the efforts of Catholic newspapers, radio and television across Canada, to provide an accurate, dependable coast-to-coast picture of the Catholic Church in action.
This year, Catholic Media outlets across Canada have united as one voice to stress the importance of WCD and the need for Catholics to support Catholic media in order for it to thrive. Thank you for taking this opportunity of World Communications Day to publish the following suggested message on your website, in your newsletter or in your Parish Bulletin of May 4th.
Please select your province for the appropriate bulletin message
