The Rapture: A Catholic Perspective
January 18, 2006

Each Sunday at mass in our profession of faith we say at one point, speaking of Christ, “He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.” Those words may just roll off our tongue but they should also be something to ponder far more deeply.
Could Christ return in our own lifetimes? Are there signs we should be looking for? Would you change how you live if Christ’s return were immanent? For millions of Christians of other denominations those questions have sparked a movement called pre-millenial dispensationalism. It’s a big word linked to a big idea. It’s called the rapture. It’s a popular theology that is making millions of dollars at the bookstores and the movie theatres, thanks to a series called Left Behind. David Naglieri speaks with Dr. James Beverly, Professor of Apologetics at Tyndale University College and Seminary in Toronto to learn more about this phenomenon. This show also features a candid interview with Carl E. Olson author of Will Catholics be Left Behind, a book that explores anti-Catholicism within the whole rapture belief system. Everything you ever wanted to know about the end of the world tonight on Focus.
