Love As We Know It
Pope Francis' most recent exhortation is called Amoris Laetitia, the Joy of Love, and its main theme is the family. It came as a conclusion to the last two Synods which focused on the same subject but it came also as a reminder that family is central to the life of the Church and must be cared for. 'Love As We Know It' was created as a way to remember how God speaks through the family... With the help of all our producers at Salt + Light, 'Love As We Know It' brings together stories of families who have chosen to love every day within their own unique structure, daily struggles and joys.

EP 1: Called to Holiness
The vocation of the family is to love. The most extraordinary way a family can love is through the ordinariness of life. For the families we will meet in this episode, which simply means being open to whatever God wills in their life. It is their surest way to grow in holiness, a call given to everyone.
EP 2: Choosing Life
The family is the “sanctuary of life” but this fundamental truth is not always easy to carry out. What do you do when your unborn child shows signs of disability? What happens when a family member gets old and becomes ill? These couples and their families would argue that no matter the situation, every life matters.
EP 3: Fatherhood
Everyone has a role to play in the family. Mothers and fathers, in particular, contribute with their own unique strengths to uphold the family. In our culture today we especially need to rediscover the value of fatherhood and it can come in many different shapes.
